TRADE NEWS: Agilent Technologies to Acquire Vxl Products from PASS Technologies; Capabilities Will Add Seamless Data Exchange Between Agilent VEE Pro and Microsoft Excel

    PALO ALTO, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--March 8, 2005--Agilent Technologies Inc. (NYSE:A) today announced it will acquire PASS Technologies' Vxl test data-exchange software products for integration into Agilent's VEE Pro graphical programming language. PASS Technologies Inc., based in Fort Collins, Colo., specializes in test-and-measurement software development. By tightly integrating the capabilities in the Vxl products, Agilent's VEE Pro will allow users to seamlessly exchange data with Microsoft(R) Excel as well as control Excel to quickly create professional test reports.
    Agilent VEE Pro, named one of EDN Magazine's "Hot 100 Products of 2004," is a highly intuitive, graphical programming environment. With its open architecture that supports industry-standard instrument communications, PC-standard software components, and embedded MATLAB(R) functionality, VEE Pro enables developers to create tests quickly, so they can focus on engineering tasks, rather than programming.

    Agilent will move the Vxl capabilities directly into future versions of VEE Pro. Customers who want to purchase Vxl for use in VEE Pro version 7 or earlier can purchase Vxl through April 7, 2005, from PASS Technologies. After that, Agilent will provide support for existing Vxl products. Agilent's acquisition of the Vxl products from PASS Technologies is expected to close in early May.
