Visa Q2 Profit Tops Estimate; Revenue Falls Shy

(RTTNews) - Visa Inc. (V) reported net income for the second quarter of $1.6 billion or $2.52 per share, compared to $1.3 billion or $1.92 per share for the year-ago quarter.

Excluding items, adjusted earnings per share for the latest quarter were $2.20.

Operating revenue for the second quarter rose 7% to $3.16 billion from $2.96 billion a year ago.

Analysts polled by Thomson Reuters expected the company to earn $2.18 per share on revenue of $3.19 billion for the second quarter. Analysts' estimates typically exclude special items.

For fiscal full-year 2014, Visa now expects low double-digit constant revenue growth in the 10-11% range, with an expectation of two percentage points of negative foreign currency impact.
