Volkswagen Features Alcantara On BlueMotion Models In China

MILAN, July 19, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- Volkswagen has selected Alcantara to provide materials for the BlueMotion versions of its Passat and Magotan models in China.

Alcantara's designation as "carbon neutral" was one of the reasons the German carmaker chose Alcantara for its fuel-efficient BlueMotion cars in China.

Volkswagen's BlueMotion models are high-fuel-economy, low-emissions vehicles. Using an intelligent engine management system with "start& stop", an energy-recovery brake system, aerodynamic design and improved low rolling-resistance tires, the cars are economy benchmarks in the Volkswagen lineup.

Volkswagen has made extensive use of Alcantara materials on the Passat BlueMotion and Magotan BlueMotion, including door panels and seating surfaces. Alcantara, the Italian producer of luxury interior materials, developed a brand new "BlueMotion" color for the Chinese market.
