Wal-Mart Recalls Card Table And Chair Sets On Finger Amputation, Fall Hazards

(RTTNews) - Retail giant Wal-Mart Stores Inc. (WMT) Friday recalled some card table and chair sets due to finger amputation and fall hazards.

The firm recalled 73,400 units of the product - Mainstays five-piece card table and chair sets - as the chairs can collapse unexpectedly. It was manufactured by Heshan Camis Industrial Co. Ltd., of Guangdong, China.

The recall involves the Mainstays card table sets with a black padded metal folding table and four black padded metal folding chairs. "Made by: Dongguan Shin Din Metal & Plastic Products Co," the company that made the chair cushions, is printed on a white label on the bottom of these chairs.

Walmart received 10 reports of injuries from collapsing chairs. Injury reports include one finger amputation, three fingertip amputations, sprained or fractured fingers and one report of a sore back.

The product was sold at Walmart stores nationwide and online from May 2013 through November 2013 for about $50.

The retailer asked the consumers to immediately stop using the recalled card table and chair sets and return the entire set for a full refund.

WMT closed up 0.3 percent on Thursday at $78.91.
