Wal-Mart Teams Up With Wild Oats To Lower Organic Food Prices

(RTTNews) - Wal-Mart Stores, Inc. (WMT) Thursday announced the relaunch of Wild Oats' (OATS) organic foods this month, in an aim to bring down organic food prices. This would enable customers to save at least 25 percent, compared with other brands. The organic food items will include a wide range of categories from salsa and pasta sauce to quinoa and chicken broth.

As a result, Walmart and Wild Oats would roll out about 100 products as part of the line, removing the price premium associated with organic groceries.

Walmart's internal research showed that 91 percent of its shoppers would buy products from an affordable organic brand at the retailer.

Commenting on the launch, Wild Oats' Chief Executive said, "Our availability at Walmart will allow us to finally pass along scalable savings directly to consumers. We are reinvigorating our brand by bringing great tasting Wild Oats products to more customers than ever before."
