Wall Street Poised To Open In Negative Territory

(RTTNews) - Initial signs from the U.S. Futures Index suggest that Wall Street might open lower on Monday. New Home sales, Durable Goods Orders, Consumer Confidence, second quarter GDP and Consumer Price Inflation might get attention this week.

In the Asian trading session, gold dipped from a two-week high, as the dollar recovered from the intense selloff. Oil edged up amid supply concerns.

As of 8.20 am ET, the Dow futures were down 140.00 points, the S&P 500 futures were declining 20.25 points and the Nasdaq 100 futures were progressing 96.50 points.

The U.S. major averages ended Friday higher. The Dow shot up 846.24 points or 1.9 percent to 45,631.74, the Nasdaq surged 396.22 points or 1.9 percent to 21,496.53 and the S&P 500 jumped 96.74 points or 1.5 percent to 6,466.91.

On the Economic front, the Chicago Fed National Activity Index for July will be released at 8.30 am ET. In the prior month, the Index was down 0.10.

The New Home Sales for July will be issued at 10.00 am ET. The consensus is 628K, while it was up 627K in the prior month.

The Dallas Fed Manufacturing Survey for August will be published at 10.30 am ET. In the prior month, the General Activity Index was up 0.9.

Six-month Treasury Bill auction will be held at 11.30 am ET.

Dallas Fed President Lorie Logan will speak and participates in panel before the Bank of Mexico Centennial Conference at 3.15 pm ET.

New York Fed President John Williams will give keynote before the Bank of Mexico Centennial Conference at 7.15 pm ET.

Asian stocks rose broadly on Monday. Chinese shares jumped. The Shanghai Composite index rallied 1.51 percent to 3,883.56. Hong Kong's Hang Seng index climbed 1.94 percent to 25,829.91.

Japanese markets eked out modest gains. The Nikkei average rose 0.41 percent to 42,807.82. The broader Topix index settled 0.15 percent higher at 3,105.49.

Australian markets finished marginally higher. The benchmark S&P/ASX 200 ended little changed at 8,972.40. The broader All Ordinaries index edged up by 0.12 percent to 9,245.
