Wall Street Poised To Open In Negative Zone

(RTTNews) - The Fed minutes might be the focus on Wednesday. The ongoing talks to end Ukraine-Russia war is getting much attention. The Fed Chair Jerome Powell's Jackson Hole speech due this week is expected to give more clarity on September rate cuts.

In the Asian trading session, gold was three-week low, while the dollar extended gains. Oil prices were slightly up.

Asian shares finished mostly up, while European shares are trading broadly higher.

Early trends on the U.S. Futures Index suggest that Wall Street might open

As of 8.15 am ET, the Dow futures were down 4.00 points, the S&P 500 futures were declining 5.50 points and the Nasdaq 100 futures were tumbling 43.25 points.

The U.S. major averages finished lower on Tuesday. The Nasdaq ended the day just off its lows of the session, tumbling 314.82 points or 1.5 percent to 21,314.95. The S&P 500 also slid 37.78 points or 0.6 percent to 6,411.37.

On the economic front, the Atlanta Fed Business Inflation Expectations for August will be issued at 10.00 am ET. In the prior month, the expectations were up 2.3 percent.

The Energy Information Administration or EIA's Petroleum Status Report for the week will be published at 10.30 am ET. In the prior week, the crude oil inventories were up 3.0 million barrels, and gasoline inventories were down 0.8 million barrels.

Twenty-year Treasury Bond auction will be held at 1.00 pm ET.

The Federal Open Market Committee or FOMC minutes will be issued at 2.00 pm ET.

Fed Governor Christopher Waller will speak on 'Payments' before the Wyoming Blockchain Symposium 2025 at 11.00 am ET.

Asian stocks ended mixed on Wednesday. China's Shanghai Composite index jumped 1.04 percent to 3,766.21.

Hong Kong's Hang Seng index ended up 0.17 percent at 25,165.94.

Japanese markets fell sharply. The Nikkei average tumbled 1.51 percent to 42,888.55 while the broader Topix index settled 0.57 percent lower at 3,098.91.

Australian markets ended slightly higher. The benchmark S&P/ASX 200 rose 0.25 percent to 8,918. The broader All Ordinaries index finished marginally higher at 9,177.40.
