WebMD Health Lifts Q2, FY13 Outlook - Quick Facts

(RTTNews) - WebMD Health Corp. (WBMD) said that it now expects net income for the second-quarter to be about $3 million, or $0.05 per share, or approximately 2% of revenue. Earlier, the company expected loss at about 1 percent of revenues for the second-quarter.

The company now anticipates revenue for the second-quarter to be between $124 million and $125 million, an increase of 10% to 11% from the prior year period. Previously, the company expected revenue to be in excess of $115 million for the second-quarter.

Analysts polled by Thomson Reuters expected the company to report breakeven per share and revenue of $117.02 million for the second-quarter. Analysts' estimates typically exclude special items.

For fiscal 2013, the company now projects net income to be in the range of $3 million to $11 million, and revenue of $485 million to $505 million. Earlier, the company expected net loss of $13 million to $1.5 million, and revenue of $450 million to $470 million for fiscal 2013. Analysts expect the company to report a loss of $0.02 per share and revenues of $476.36 million for fiscal 2013.

"Our better than anticipated second quarter preliminary results and our increased financial guidance for 2013 is primarily due to increased demand for our public portals advertising and sponsorship services, particularly from biopharmaceutical customers," said David Schlanger, Interim CEO, WebMD.

"Additionally, while not impacting our increased 2013 guidance, we are experiencing significant new commitments for our private portal offerings, including the previously announced contract with Blue Cross and Blue Shield Association Federal Employee Program, which are expected to generate revenue beginning in 2014" said David Schlanger.

WebMD said it will release its second quarter results on July 31, 2013, at approximately 4:00 p.m. Eastern time.
