(RTTNews) - Forest products company Weyerhaeuser Co. (WY) posted higher third-quarter net earnings attributable to common shareholders of $157 million, or $0.27 per share, compared with last year's $117 million, $0.22 per share, reflecting solid operating results. On average, 14 analysts polled by Thomson Reuters expected earnings per share of $0.21 for the quarter. Analysts' estimates typically exclude one-time items.

Operating income for the period improved year-over-year to $277 million, from $202 million.

Quarterly net sales totaled $2.18 billion, an increase from $1.77 billion reported a year before. Analysts estimated revenues of $2.09 billion for the quarter.
