Windstream Names Carol Armitage to Board of Directors
Carol Armitage, vice chairman of Scala, Inc., an international
multi-media software development company, has been elected to the
Windstream Corporation (NYSE: WIN) board of directors, effective today.
"Carol has 20 years of executive management
experience in product and technology design and development for
wireline, wireless and cable TV businesses, and her technical background
brings an added dimension to our board leadership,”
said Jeff Gardner, president and CEO of Windstream.
Armitage has been a director of Scala, Inc. since 2000. She is a former
chairman of the board of YDI Wireless, a leading world supplier of
high-speed wireless data communications systems. Armitage also is a
former senior vice president of technology and strategy at General
Instrument and held various engineering and management positions at Bell
Laboratories and Network Systems during her 17-year career there.
Armitage holds a bachelor’s degree from the
University of Delaware and a master’s degree
from Princeton University, both in electrical engineering.
Windstream’s board of directors has
affirmatively determined Armitage qualifies as an independent board
member under New York Stock Exchange listing requirements, and as a
result of her appointment, seven of Windstream’s
nine directors satisfy such independence requirements.
