Malaysia Jobless Rate Remains Stable In January

(RTTNews) - Malaysia's unemployment rate held steady at the start of the year, figures from the Department of Statistics showed Friday.

The jobless rate came in at 3.4 percent in January, the same rate as in the previous month. In the corresponding month last year, the unemployment rate was 3.1%.

The seasonally adjusted jobless for the month was 3.2 percent.

The number of unemployed people decreased to 501,500 in January from 504,300 in December. A year ago, the jobless figure totaled 450,300.

The labor force participation rate dropped slightly to 67.7 percent from 67.9 percent in the preceding month.
