Malaysia Trade Surplus Grows In July

(RTTNews) - The Malaysian trade surplus increased sharply in July from a year ago as exports grew faster than imports, data from the statistical office showed on Tuesday.

The trade surplus rose to MYR 15.0 billion in July from MYR 6.8 billion in the same month last year. In June, the trade surplus was MYR 8.4 billion.

Exports grew 6.8 percent annually in July, largely on the back of re-exports, while imports increased slightly by 0.6 percent.

On a seasonally adjusted basis, both exports and imports expanded by 20.2 percent and 8.6 percent, respectively, from a month earlier.
