Mexico Inflation Rises To 6-month High
(RTTNews) - Mexico's consumer price inflation increased further in May to the highest level in six months, data from the National Institute of Statistics and Geography, or INEGI, showed on Monday.
The consumer price index climbed 4.42 percent year-on-year in May, faster than the 3.93 percent rise in April.
Data showed that core inflation also rose to 4.06 percent in May from 3.93 percent in the previous month.
Prices for food and non-alcoholic beverages alone grew 5.08 percent annually in May, and costs for housing and utilities were 4.47 percent higher compared to last year. Health costs showed an increase of 4.79 percent.
On a monthly basis, consumer prices moved up 0.28 percent in May after rising 0.33 percent in the prior month.
