Taiwan Trade Surplus Grows In July
(RTTNews) - Taiwan's foreign trade surplus increased sharply in July from a year ago as exports grew much faster than imports, preliminary figures from the Ministry of Finance revealed on Friday.
The trade surplus rose to $14.3 billion in July from $4.9 billion in the corresponding month last year. The surplus also grew from $12.1 billion in June.
Exports surged 42.0 percent year-over-year in July, and imports climbed by 20.8 percent.
Shipments of information, communication, and audio-video products jumped by 87.1 percent, and outflows of parts of electronic products rose by 34.1 percent. Meanwhile, imports of mineral products showed a decline of 11.3 percent.
