Activist Investor William Ackman Exits Mondelez Stake, Adds Air Products

(RTTNews) - Activist investor William Ackman's investment firm Pershing Square Capital Management L.P.'s U.S. equity portfolio was worth $10.95 billion at the end of the July 2013, up from $10.07 billion at the end of March 2013, a regulatory filing showed Wednesday.

As per a regulatory requirement, companies that control an investment portfolio of more than $100 million are required to report its U.S. stock holdings 45 days after the end of each quarter.

According to the quarterly holdings statement filed with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission, Pershing Square is seen to have exited its entire holdings in Mondelez International, Inc. (MDLZ), which was formerly known as Kraft Foods, Inc. until October 2012.

Meanwhile, Pershing Square has acquired new stake in Air Products & Chemicals, Inc. (APD).

The New York-based company also trimmed its stake in General Growth Properties, Inc. (GGP) and slashed its holdings in Matson, Inc. (MATX), the filing shows.

At the same time, the filing revealed that Pershing Square has raised its stake in consumer goods giant Procter & Gamble Co. (PG).

Meanwhile, Pershing Square's has maintained its holdings in Beam, Inc. (BEAM), Burger King Worldwide, Inc. (BKW), Canadian Pacific Railway Ltd. (CP), Howard Huges Corp. (HHC), and J. C. Penny & Co. (JCP).

An interesting point to note here is that, Ackman's Perishing Square has not reduced its stake in JC Penny despite Ackman being reportedly forced to resign from its board of directors on Monday for releasing confidential boardroom deliberations in two separate letters last week.
