Alliance Data Systems Q2 Adj. Profit Tops View; Lifts FY13 Outlook - Quick Facts

(RTTNews) - Alliance Data Systems Corp. (ADS) reported that its second-quarter net income was $116.4 million or $1.71 per share, up from $103.8 million or $1.63 per share in the same quarter last year.

Core earnings for the quarter increased to $164.1 million or $2.41 per share, from $135.5 million or $2.13 per share last year. Analysts polled by Thomson Reuters expected the company to report earnings of $2.29 per share for the quarter. Analysts' estimates typically exclude special items.

Revenues for the quarter rose to $1.03 billion from $866.5 million in the prior year quarter. Eighteen analysts had consensus revenue estimate of $ 1.03 billion for the quarter.

For the third quarter of 2013, the company expects revenue to approximate $1.07 billion, an 18 percent increase compared to 2012. Core earnings is expected to approximate $170 million, a 10 percent increase compared to 2012, while core earnings per share is expected to approximate $2.60 for the third quarter of 2013, a 10 percent increase compared to 2012. Analysts expect the company to report earnings of $2.72 per share and revenues of $1.07 billion for the third-quarter.

The company raised 2013 guidance for revenue from $4.25 billion to $4.275 billion, a 17 percent increase compared to 2012. Organic revenue growth for 2013 is expected to approximate 8 percent. The Company also raised guidance for core earnings per share from $9.75 to $9.85, a 13 percent increase compared to 2012. Analysts expect the company to report earnings of $9.92 per share and revenues of $4.28 billion for fiscal 2013.

While announcing the first-quarter result, the company had expected revenue in the range of $4.20 billion to $4.25 billion. Organic revenue growth was expected to approximate 7 percent. The company also expected core earnings per share to be in the range of $9.65 to $9.75 for fiscal 2013.
