Apple Watch To Ship In March: Reports

(RTTNews) - Apple Watch, the most widely anticipated device from Apple Inc.'s (AAPL) stable, is expected to ship in the US by the end of March, according to reports.

Tech blog 9to5mac.com reported that the tech giant is "finishing up" work on the software of Apple Watch and is expected to start shipping in March.

Cupertino, California-based Apple had unveiled the Apple Watch in September along with the launch of iPhone 6 and 6 Plus. Apple had then indicated a vague shipping date of "early 2015." Meanwhile, in November, Apple's Senior Vice President of Retail and Online Stores Angela Ahrendts reportedly told employees that the launch will occur in the "spring," after the Chinese New Year.

Apple's retail staff will also start receiving training on the product from February 9 to 16, according to 9to5Mac.

"One or two representatives from many Apple Stores in the United States, depending on store and market size, will be sent to Apple offices in either Cupertino, California or Austin, Texas to learn first-hand about the Watch," according to 9to5mac.com.

Apple Watch will be available in three collections, Apple Watch in stainless steel, Apple Watch Sport in silver or space gray aluminum and luxury Apple Watch Edition will be available in 18 carat gold. The price starts at $349.

In November, Apple had released WatchKit, the software kit for developers to start creating apps for the Apple Watch.

AAPL is currently trading at $107.67, up $1.41 or 1.33%, on the Nasdaq.
