Best Buy Executive Changes

Best Buy Co., Inc. (NYSE: BBY), today announced executive changes designed to strengthen its information technology team worldwide and enhance management of its expanding international operations.

Roberts Promoted to Enterprise CIO
Neville Roberts, age 41, has been promoted to Best Buy chief information officer with enterprise-wide responsibility, a role previously held by Robert Willett, CEO of Best Buy International. Willett had held the dual roles of chief executive officer of Best Buy International and the enterprise’s chief information officer since 2004. Roberts will continue to report to Willett.

Roberts joined Best Buy in January 2008 as chief information officer of Best Buy International. Before that, Roberts spent over 18 years at Accenture, most recently as senior partner in their Global Retail Practice where he was responsible for clients such as Wal-Mart International (including ASDA), WHSmith, Argos and Tesco. He worked with these well-respected retailers on a variety of initiatives, including supply chain, multi-channel/e-commerce delivery, technology delivery, CRM and outsourcing. As a member of Accenture’s Global Retail Team, he focused on working with Oracle Retail (Retek) to deliver value by creating opportunities to increase revenues and margin through efficiencies, growth strategies and technology.

"This promotion recognizes Neville’s leadership role in the continued development and deployment of innovative, powerful business applications that directly benefit our operations around the world,” said Willett. "He has an exceptional understanding of our business model and the competitive advantages derived from a robust IT infrastructure.”

Wheway named COO of International Unit
Scott Wheway, age 42, was named chief operating officer of Best Buy International, the strategic business unit focused on the enterprise’s growth outside of the United States. Wheway reports to Robert Willett, the CEO of Best Buy International.

As COO of Best Buy’s international unit, Wheway will oversee the company’s operations in Canada, China, Mexico and Turkey, as well as its joint venture in Europe. Best Buy International’s marketing, customer experience and retail operations teams also will report to Wheway.

Wheway spent 20 years at Tesco Stores, Ltd., the world’s fourth-largest retailer. There, he worked his way up from the sales floor to senior executive leadership positions, including operations director and change director. Most recently, Wheway served as managing director of Boots the Chemist, the leading health and beauty chain in the United Kingdom, part of Alliance Boots PLC, an international pharmacy and beauty group with both retail and wholesale operations. He also is a non- executive director of Aviva PLC, the UK's largest insurer with operations in 28 countries across the world.

"At Best Buy, we believe that our employees and corporate culture can drive extraordinary customer experiences across many channels anywhere in the world. Scott’s leadership style and deep understanding of multi-national retail operations will serve us well as we look for ways to drive growth around the globe,” said Willett. "Scott is the consummate retailer. He’s never forgotten his roots as a line-level store employee, and he remains passionate about meeting customer needs. His energy and background are a brilliant fit for Best Buy.”

Skelley Named President, International Retail Operations
Sean Skelley, a 20-year veteran of Best Buy, was named president, International Retail Operations, a newly created position. Skelley, age 42, reports to Scott Wheway, the newly appointed chief operating officer of Best Buy International. As president of International Retail Operations, Skelley leads Best Buy’s operations in Canada, China, Mexico and Turkey. He also leads Best Buy’s multi-channel work in Europe through the company’s partnership with The Carphone Warehouse.

"Sean brings unique expertise in Services and stores to the International team from his leadership role of Geek Squad” said Willett. "His background and skills are distinctively suited to lead our efforts to bring the ‘connected world’ to life in our global markets; optimizing the customer experience – face to face – with greater emphasis on growing services and locality demand while leveraging enterprise capabilities. "

Prior to assuming this new role, Skelley was senior vice president and leader of Best Buy’s services business group where he was responsible for developing a global services strategy and growing the services business in all parts of the world as customers’ lifestyles and needs change.

Skelley has dedicated his career to the retail industry. Since 1988, Skelley has served the Best Buy team in several capacities including: senior merchant, district manager, regional manager and, prior to becoming vice president, director of Best Buy services. In 2002, Skelley led Best Buy’s acquisition of Geek Squad, a unit that offers complete computer services in the home or workplace, 24 hours per day.
