Best Buy Launches Seventh Annual Campaign to Benefit Toys for Teens
Best Buy, determined to make the holidays brighter for teenagers, today
announced its seventh annual Toys for Teens campaign. For more than a
decade Best Buy has supported the Marine Toys for Tots Foundation. In
2001, Best Buy partnered with them to create the Toys for Teens
charitable program to address the needs of older children. To date, Best
Buy, together with its partners and customers, has raised more than $3.2
million through the Toys for Teens program to benefit older children
across the U.S.
Partnering with the Marine Toys for Tots Foundation, Best Buy is the
exclusive corporate sponsor of Toys for Teens. This year, customers have
more ways to contribute, including any of the following donation options:
Buy any DreamWorks Animation DVD and $3 will be donated to Toys for
Teens (11/11 – 12/8)
Donate the value of REWARD ZONE® program
points to Toys for Teens (11/11 – 12/22)
Make a cash donation at the register or online (11/11 –
12/31)
"Best Buy is committed to supporting the Toys
for Teens program, and giving underprivileged teens across the country a
wonderful holiday year after year,” said Paula
Prahl, vice president, public affairs, Best Buy. "In
partnership with the Marine Toys for Tots Foundation, Paramount Home
Entertainment and our loyal customers, we look forward to making the
holidays brighter for older children in need.”
In an exclusive partnership with Best Buy, Paramount Home Entertainment
will donate $3 from the purchase of any DreamWorks Animation DVD to Toys
for Teens through December 8, including DreamWorks’
latest DVD release – Shrek the Third. To
celebrate the release of Shrek the Third on November 13, and the start
of the 2007 Toys for Teens campaign, Best Buy will host the Shrek
character in select stores in Los Angeles. Additionally, Best Buy
customers will receive a free Shrek Activity Book with any DreamWorks
Animation DVD purchase through December 8.
New in 2007, Best Buy REWARD ZONE® members
will be able to donate earned program points to Toys for Teens by
logging on to www.myrewardzone.com.
Members of the free program earn points for every Dollar of qualifying
purchases. REWARD ZONE® has more than 24
million subscribers in the U.S.
To encourage customer donations, The Best Buy Children’s
Foundation has made a donation of $250,000 to the Marine Toys for Tots
Foundation. Money donated will be used to purchase gifts for
underprivileged children between the ages of 12 and 15. More than 900
U.S. Best Buy stores will act as monetary donation sites for Toys for
Teens, in addition to online donations at www.BestBuy.com.
"Each year, millions of teenagers are
overlooked during the holiday season, but they deserve the same joy and
excitement that a holiday gift brings to younger kids,”
said retired Major William Grein, vice president of the Marine Toys for
Tots Foundation. "Best Buy’s
involvement in the Toys for Teens effort helps brighten the holidays for
older children.” About the Best Buy Community Commitment
