Citrix Delivers Identity Management Solutions and Security Roadmap with HP; Citrix Password Manager and HP OpenView Identity and Access Management Products Integrated to Offer Complete Solution

    Business Editors/Software Writers

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--April 26, 2005--Citrix Systems, Inc. (Nasdaq:CTXS), the global leader in access infrastructure solutions, today announced a new integration agreement with HP focused on key identity management solutions. Citrix(R) Password Manager(TM) will be combined with the HP OpenView Identity and Access Management suite to create a comprehensive Identity and Access Management (IAM) solution, which will enable enterprises to provide complete, secure information access to employees, customers and partners worldwide. The two companies have also committed to a joint development roadmap on future products, and Citrix Password Manager was selected by HP as its preferred enterprise single sign-on (ESSO) solution for its OpenView customers.
Industry analysts estimate that roughly 25 percent of help desk calls are tied to password problems, and businesses spend an average of $200 per employee annually on password management issues. The typical enterprise has implemented security measures for updating passwords that place the burden on users to manually change their passwords periodically, forcing them to create an entirely new password each time. This often results in short or easy-to-remember password choices that are, by definition, weak and easily compromised. As IT responsibilities and security threats accumulate, enterprise single sign-on solutions create compelling benefits, including lower administrative costs, increased employee productivity and higher levels of security. Moreover, these solutions support compliance with regulatory legislation such as Sarbanes-Oxley, HIPAA and Gramm-Leach-Bliley.
"Organizations are faced with a growing number of users, both internal and external, accessing a mounting number of IT resources and the challenges of supporting secure access for each," said Jonathan Penn, analyst with Forrester Research. "More and more, businesses are turning to integrated ESSO solutions such as Password Manager to help increase IT security using hardened authentication, reduce costs by increasing operational efficiency, and improve regulatory compliance with legislation such as HIPAA and Sarbanes-Oxley. HP's decision to select Citrix as its preferred password management partner is a strong testament to the added value Password Manager brings to the OpenView portfolio."
As part of the comprehensive Identity and Access Management solution, HP will recommend Citrix Password Manager to OpenView Business Management customers. HP and Citrix will define and manage a joint roadmap for future integration between Citrix Password Manager and the OpenView Identity and Access Management suite, benefiting new and existing customers and further tapping the $2.3 billion identity access management market.
Tighter integration between Citrix Password Manager and market-leading identity and access management application vendors, like HP, is a fundamental tenet of Citrix's partner strategy, and builds on recent channel momentum with the VeriSign and Secure Computing endorsements of Citrix Password Manager. In addition to the future product enhancements, customers can benefit today from the capabilities of the joint solution. One example of the current integration between Citrix Password Manager and the HP OpenView Identity and Access Management suite is the ability for Citrix Password Manager events to be sent to the Audit Server functionality of HP's Select Access product. This common audit capability helps customers track user access to any application as well as all password updates - both key requirements of regulatory compliance.
"As businesses change the way they protect sensitive data, Citrix and HP are together targeting identity management as a major area of demand for enterprises, especially with the onset of new legislation that enforces specific user access controls," said David Jones, senior vice president, corporate development, for Citrix. "The Citrix and HP Identity and Access Management solution goes beyond broad defensive measures, helping businesses comply with legislation by providing auditable access trails, automatic and secure password changes and granular access controls for even outside partners who access internal resources."
Enterprise employees will be able to use the comprehensive Identity and Access Management solution to easily and securely access software across their entire computing environments, from underlying network and infrastructure components to applications themselves, without the burden of manual authentication for each application or system. Citrix Password Manager allows users to authenticate once with a single password, automatically logging them into applications, Web sites and other network resources, enforcing password policies and even automating end-user tasks such as password changes.
"HP's customers have been asking for an Identity and Access Management solution that offers integration with ESSO solutions to streamline accesses to Web, client-server and host-based applications, while increasing security," said Todd DeLaughter, vice president and general manager, Management Software Business, HP. "Password Manager's security, proven reputation in a wide variety of vertical markets and ability to seamlessly integrate with any HP OpenView Identity and Access Management environment made it an obvious choice for us to meet this customer demand."
