Citrix Details Strategic Roadmap at Annual Financial Analyst Meeting; Company Outlines Plans to Deliver an Integrated Access Platform to Meet Growing Business Imperative for Secure, Easy Access to Information On-Demand

    Business Editors/Software Writers

NEW YORK--(BUSINESS WIRE)--April 26, 2005--At its third annual Strategy Day meeting in New York City today, Citrix Systems Inc. (Nasdaq:CTXS), the global leader in access infrastructure solutions, outlined the company's strategy for driving growth and bringing more value to customers with a fully integrated, end-to-end access platform. The Citrix(R) Access Platform ensures end-users have the best experience accessing business-critical information and that IT teams are equipped to deliver enterprise resources to the right people at the right time.
"Secure access to information is one of the most important challenges enterprises face today," said Mark Templeton, Citrix president and CEO. "Increasingly complex systems coupled with a growing mobile and global workforce mean that access must now be fully integrated with IT infrastructure for greater business efficiency, agility and control. By running on the Citrix Access Platform, a company's IT infrastructure can autonomically sense and respond to a wide diversity of access scenarios to deliver truly secure access to information on-demand to virtually any user, using any device, and in any setting."

Increasing Business Need for an Access Platform

Shorter business cycles and more distributed global operations are driving enterprises to adopt a more comprehensive access strategy. An access strategy must provide the visibility IT administrators need to control access to information on the one hand, while making it fast and easy for users to access the information they need to do their jobs. Increasingly, to comply with government regulations such as Sarbanes-Oxley, HIPAA and Gramm-Leach-Bliley, businesses need stringent access policies to control who accesses what information and what they can do with it--as well as the ability to monitor, audit and report on the usage of that information. In addition, an access strategy must ensure that IT can facilitate any business change with instant scalability - from branch office openings to mergers and acquisitions - and provide always-on availability regardless of user location, mobility, device or network. A comprehensive access strategy implemented with an integrated access platform helps companies achieve these business objectives, improve operational efficiency and fuel growth.
"With a limited IT staff of only about a dozen people delivering IT services to 1,200 people in 250 field offices, the Citrix Access Platform represents a critical solution for us to provide centralized access to information, reduce our operating costs and free up more resources to accomplish our mission," said Alan Kauffman, chief information officer for March of Dimes. "The new features of Citrix Access Suite 4.0 - especially the new print engine, Hot Desktop switching, increased performance and scalability, and USB support for Pocket PCs, to name just a few - represent a tremendous addition in value for the Citrix platform, and we think they'll really help us in our efforts to streamline our organization with universal and ubiquitous information access."
"Our 2004 acquisitions added significant customer value to our product portfolio, allowing us to offer a complete, integrated access platform to address customer's end-to-end information access needs," said Templeton. "Our mission is to build on the ubiquity of Presentation Server and the nearly 2,000 independent software and hardware vendors that complement and extend our platform to add even greater value for our customers. As we continue to execute on this strategy to deliver on-demand access to information, no matter where it lives, we will partner with more companies, advance and support more industry standards and extend our platform into new markets."

Growing Technical Challenges Solved by an Access Platform

Today companies use more computing resources than ever before - e-mail, storage, applications, databases, and voice over IP (VoIP) services for every function. Yet, accessing this information is a logistical and management nightmare given the proliferating number and variety of devices, unpredictable mobility, and wired, wireless, Web and satellite networks that information has to cross to reach users. The complexity involved in getting the right level of information securely to those who have permission to access it is staggering. Citrix's objective is to provide a complete access platform that solves the challenges companies face along the entire access continuum - from securing the access endpoint regardless of the network connection, to controlling individual rights to access information resources based on roles, to enabling real-time collaboration with colleagues. In addition, the Citrix Access Platform allows IT administrators to monitor, measure, audit and report on information resource usage to make more informed decisions about application consolidation and retirement, capacity planning, service level agreements and departmental charge-backs. Such a holistic view of IT assets and granular visibility and control can only be achieved with a complete, end-to-end access platform.
During Citrix Strategy Day 2005, Citrix highlighted the critical role of the Citrix Access Suite 4.0 also launched today (see related news release) as a key component of the Citrix Access Platform for enterprise-class access. The all-new Citrix Access Suite integrates the advanced capabilities of the next-generation Citrix Presentation Server(TM) with an industry-leading Citrix Access Gateway(TM) SSL VPN and Citrix Password Manager(TM), a significantly upgraded and easier-to-use enterprise single sign-on solution for a superior access experience and maximum IT control.
In addition to detailing the Citrix Access Platform strategy for the audience of financial and industry analysts and media, Citrix executives also discussed the company's financial performance, outlined its business strategy, detailed its product strategy and execution and discussed go-to-market plans with its channel and industry partners. Templeton discussed indicators of strong customer demand for an access platform, and Citrix's strong year-over-year results reflect the increasingly critical role of access as an engine for business growth.
