Costco Jan. Comps. Up 4% - Quick Facts

(RTTNews) - Membership warehouses operator Costco Wholesale Corp.'s (COST) comparable sales for January went up by 4%. Monthly comparable sales rose by 5% in the U.S., and by 1% in the International segment. For the four-week period, the firm reported $7.99 billion of net sales, up six percent from $7.51 billion reported a year before.

Excluding negative impacts from gasoline price deflation and foreign exchange, comparable sales for the month advanced by 6% for the total company, with a 5% increase in U.S and a 8% growth in international region.

For the twenty-two weeks ended February 2, 2014, Costco posted net sales of $46.32 billion, a 6% improvement from $43.77 billion last year.
