Costco Wholesale March Comps Up 1%, Net Sales Rise 3%

(RTTNews) - Costco Wholesale Corp. (COST) reported that total comparable sales for the month of March 2016 increased 1 percent, with a 1 percent rise in U.S., a 3 percent rise in Canada, while Other International comparable sales declined 1%.

Monthly total Comparable sales, excluding the negative impacts from gasoline price deflation and foreign exchange, were up 4 percent, with a 3 percent rise in U.S., a 9 percent increase in Canada, and 5 percent rise in Other International comparable sales.

Net sales were $10.71 billion for the month of March, the five weeks ended April 3, 2016, an increase of three percent from $10.40 billion during the similar period last year.

For the thirty-one weeks ended April 3, 2016, net sales were $68.96 billion, an increase of two percent from $67.59 billion during the similar period last year.

The company plans to release its operating results for the third quarter (12 weeks) of fiscal 2016 ending May 8, 2016, after the close of business on May 25, 2016.
