Dell Again Chosen One of America’s Top Corporations for Women’s Business Enterprises
Dell Inc. (NASDAQ: DELL):
The News:
Dell today announced that it has been selected by the Women’s Business Enterprise National Council (WBENC) as one of America’s Top Corporations for Women’s Business Enterprises for 2009. It is the only national award honoring corporations for world-class programs that create level playing fields for women’s business enterprises (WBEs) to compete for corporate contracts and gain fair access to procurement opportunities.
This is the second consecutive year that Dell has made the list and is a strong reflection of the company’s on-going commitment to WBEs as suppliers. In fiscal year 2008, Dell’s spending with women, small and minority-owned suppliers reached more than $2.5 billion.
Quotes:
"Supplier diversity is a critical component of our supply chain strategy. We are honored by the recognition and will continue to ensure we create opportunities for women-owned businesses, while at the same time learning from these synergistic relationships,” said Jens Gruenkemeier, director, Dell general procurement & global supplier diversity.
"Dell’s reputation for forward thinking and innovation has been crucial in the support of promoting women business enterprises and I am thrilled that they are receiving this award for the second year. In their demand to ensure the best for their customers, they have encouraged their suppliers, like Techway, to excel and grow as well,” said Cathi Coan, president and co-founder Techway Services.
"Integrated Human Capital, a supplier of staffing services, has been a provider to Dell for the last few years. Since our participation in the Centers of Excellence program with Dell as our mentor company, we have not only seen increased procurement opportunities in the United States and Latin America, but also have been successful in forming a joint venture with the second largest staffing company in the world. Together, we are ready to compete in the global market place. I applaud Dell for its support of women-owned businesses,” said Rosa Santana, CEO, Integrated Human Capital.
