Frontier Communications Gets Favorable Decision For Verizon Assets Acquisition

(RTTNews) - Telecom company Frontier Communications Corp. (FTR) said that the California Administrative Law Judge has issued a favorable 'proposed decision' in Frontier's acquisition of Verizon Communication Inc.'s (VZ) assets.

The company said that on Friday, November 6, 2015, Administrative Law Judge Karl Bemesderfer with the California Public Utilities Commission or CPUC issued a favorable Proposed Decision or PD proposing approval of Frontier's proposed acquisition of Verizon's local wireline, broadband and video operations, including the FiOS network.

Frontier Communications noted that it has already received all other necessary regulatory approvals, including from the Federal Communications Commission or FCC and the Justice Department.

The company along with other parties will be filing comments on the PD by November 20, 2015. Pending final CPUC approval in California, Frontier expects to close the transaction at the end of the first quarter of 2016.

The full CPUC is expected to vote on the PD by the end of the year, which follows the original schedule set out by Commissioner Sandoval and Administrative Law Judge Bemesderfer.
