Hasbro's VIDEONOW COLOR Named Electronic Entertainment Toy of the Yea

PAWTUCKET, R.I.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Feb. 21, 2005--Hasbro, Inc.'s (NYSE:HAS) VIDEONOW COLOR, the portable personal video player that lets kids enjoy their favorite programming and music anytime, anywhere, was named the toy industry's Electronic Entertainment Toy of the Year this past Saturday night at the industry's annual Toy of the Year Awards (T.O.T.Y.).
The T.O.T.Y. awards recognize toys and children's entertainment and the individuals and companies behind them, with nominees selected by the industry, and the award winners chosen by members of the Toy Industry Association.
The VIDEONOW brand was launched in 2003, resulting in the sale of 2.8 million VIDEONOW players and more than 9.9 million PVD's since its highly successful debut.
"Hasbro's success with VIDEONOW and other toys and lifestyle products are indicative of the opportunities that abound when you are first to identify trends and leverage current technologies while providing compelling value to the consumer," said Brian Goldner, Hasbro's President, U.S. toy group. Last week, Hasbro announced the launch of VIDEONOW MUSIC, with a library of music singles that will feature such artists as the Zomba Label Group including Bowling for Soup, Britney Spears, Ciara, J-Kwon and Usher, artists from the Lava Group including Simple Plan and artists from Hollywood Records including Hilary Duff, Raven Symone and Jesse McCartney providing tweens the opportunity to collect many of their favorite hit songs with video in the portable, "anytime, anywhere" format.
