The book has just been published by arpr, inc., and is available for $9.95US and $14.95CAN at most major outlets, including Amazon.com, Pittsburgh- area Steelers Stores, Borders, Barnes & Noble and knowledgeinanutshell.com. A portion of the proceeds from the book benefit the Senator John Heinz Pittsburgh Regional History Center.

"Touchdowns to Tailgating brings together the best of food, fun facts and football, a veritable trifecta for tailgating chefs and football fans everywhere," says the book author, Charles Reichblum, aka 'Dr. Knowledge' of The Dr. Knowledge Show on KDKA radio, who has also written many other favorite Knowledge in a Nutshell(R) and Dr. Knowledge(TM) Presents books.

Pro and college football fun facts, trivia and nostalgia are blended in the book to challenge the football IQ of even the best football fans and fanatics. In addition, Touchdowns to Tailgating features 57 favorite tailgating recipes, created by well-known food aficionado and certified chef / teacher, Rania Harris.

"Everything you need to know to have a great time before, during and after the game -- or anytime -- is all here in this handy little book," noted Reichblum. "Whether you're from Pittsburgh or San Diego, love Tex Mex or kielbasa, there's something in the book for every palette and every fan."

"Many of the recipes in Touchdowns to Tailgating are made easy by using one or more Heinz(R) brand products," says Chef Rania Harris, a local television and radio talent who was featured in Bon Appetit as an "outstanding cooking school teacher" and has catered for presidential candidates, senators, governors and Hollywood personalities. "Tailgating is all about the fun and the eating, so the food preparation needs to be simple, with many items you can make in advance."

Among the tempting tailgating tastes included in the book are Beer Marinated Grilled Steak, Shrimp Creole, Tangy Sportsman Mushrooms and Smashin' Bashin' Bean Soup. And for dessert, Love Apple Pie and Tic Tac Toe Cookies - both of which contain Heinz(R) Ketchup.

Pulled Pork with Root Beer BBQ Sauce 1 8-pound pork shoulder Salt and pepper 2 heads garlic cloves -- separated and peeled Root beer BBQ sauce: Reduce 1 2-liter bottle root beer to 1 cup 1-1/2 cups Heinz(R) Apple Cider Vinegar 1/2 cup Heinz(R) Ketchup 1/2 cup Heinz(R) Yellow Mustard 2 tablespoons lemon juice 1 tablespoon Heinz(R) Worcestershire Sauce 1 tablespoon TABASCO(R) 1 teaspoon kosher salt 1 teaspoon black pepper To finish sauce: 2 tablespoons cold, unsalted butter

Preheat oven to 225 degrees. Place the pork shoulder, fat side up, in a large roasting pan and season well with salt and pepper to taste. Toss 2 heads of garlic cloves that have been peeled, but leave cloves whole around the pork. Cover well with heavy-duty aluminum foil. Slow-cook in the oven until tender and falling apart, and the internal temperature reaches 160 degrees. This should take about 6 to 8 hours. Remove from the oven and let the pork rest for 20 to 30 minutes. With two forks, pull apart the meat into small chunks. Toss with the root beer BBQ sauce and serve. Root beer BBQ sauce: Reduce the root beer to 1 cup over medium heat in a large saucepan -- this takes about 1 hour. Add the vinegar, ketchup, mustard, lemon juice, Worcestershire sauce, Tabasco, salt, and pepper. Stir well and simmer for 20 minutes. Finish the sauce by whisking in the cold butter for extra body and flavor. Serves: 6-8

TIP: Never use diet root beer in this recipe! The sugar in the root beer is critical to the success of the recipe.
