i365, A Seagate Company, Sees EVault for Microsoft System Center Data Protection Manager Momentum with Addition of Two Key European Partners

i365, Inc., A Seagate Company (NASDAQ:STX), today announced the company is seeing strong interest and momentum in Europe for its recently announced EVault® for Microsoft® System Center Data Protection Manager, (EVault for DPM). EVault for DPM is a collaboration with Microsoft that has resulted in the first and only heterogeneous disk-based data protection solution that allows IT managers to extend Microsoft System Center Data Protection Manager 2010 across non-Microsoft platforms and into the Cloud, using i365’s EVault data protection software and Cloud-Connected storage solutions infrastructure. Hammer and Inovativ are early members of the EVault for DPM reseller program and are now taking orders for the solution.

In mixed IT environments with Microsoft operating systems and applications as well as data on other platforms or applications such as VMware, Oracle, Unix, Linux and IBM i, customers have been struggling to find the best way to backup and protect all of their company-critical data with a single solution. Until now, no single data protection product offered DPM, with its protection for Microsoft servers, applications and desktops, combined with heterogeneous support for non-Microsoft platforms and the option to protect data in the Cloud. EVault for DPM is the only product that can meet all of these needs.

Paul Hickingbotham, solutions manager at storage distributor Hammer, said, "i365 and its integration with Microsoft's System Center DPM 2010 offers end users the ability to implement a comprehensive and rounded DR strategy into a multi OS environment, where they have previously been constrained by DPM's OS restrictions. We are excited by the opportunity of selling this solution through our Reseller and SI channels."

EVault for DPM is an all-in-one backup and recovery appliance that combines DPM’s unified data protection for Microsoft Windows servers and applications with the robust protection of EVault Software for non-Microsoft platforms and cloud connectivity. With EVault for DPM, customers can send both their DPM and EVault-protected backup data to the i365 Cloud and get offsite disaster recovery protection quickly and economically. The optional Cloud-Connected storage service, scheduled to be available later this year, includes efficient and secure replication of the backup data over the Internet, and maintains backup copies of data in the i365 Cloud. The i365 Cloud is supported by ISO and/or SAS70 Type II-certified data centers in EMEA, staffed by a team of experts and employing state-of-the-art encryption protocols, storage technologies, and redundancy practices to ensure ironclad protection of data.

"We are impressed by the enhancements Microsoft has made to DPM 2010, including single-item recovery within Hyper-V guests, end-user restore capabilities for SQL databases, added client protection, and cloud capabilities," said Alex Smits, consultant at Inovativ, a Microsoft Certified Gold Partner based in the Netherlands. The company has eight Microsoft System Center consultants on staff, three of who are certified System Center Microsoft Valued Professionals (MVPs). "DPM offers a lot of value, but many of our customers also have a strong interest in protecting their non-Windows workloads, especially Oracle. With its support for Oracle and non-Windows operating systems, including Linux, VMware, and UNIX, EVault for DPM is very compelling. We look forward to being part of this venture."

Customers have several configurations to choose from — each with all the hardware, software, storage and support they need. The hardware will be powered by Dell technology and will ship factory-installed with both DPM 2010 and EVault Software with a common user interface to help customers monitor their entire heterogeneous environment and initiate complex tasks with ease. It also includes helpful wizards that will guide customers through the setup process.

"We are proud to have such strong European partners to help us deliver EVault for DPM,” said Keith Gnagey, managing director, i365 Europe. "EVault technology is making Cloud-based data protection an important part of disaster recovery initiatives for more customers every day, proving the efficiency, security, and flexibility of these services. Our European customers can expect to see more innovative Cloud-Connected offerings from i365 as we focus on meeting the challenge of maintaining business continuity in cross-platform, multi-site environments.”

Microsoft System Center Data Protection Manager is a member of the Microsoft System Center suite of management products, designed to help IT Professionals manage their Windows environment.
