Intuitive's SureForm 45 Stapler Secures FDA Clearance, Stock Down
(RTTNews) - Intuitive Surgical, Inc. (ISRG), Thursday announced that the U.S. Food & Drug Administration has cleared its fully wristed SP SureForm 45 stapler for use with its da Vinci SP surgical system in thoracic, colorectal, and urologic procedures.
The company added that the stapler features SmartFire technology, which continuously monitors tissue compression before and during firing, enhancing staple line integrity and reducing tissue damage risk.
Additionally, the da Vinci SP system helps surgeons to control up to three wristed instruments and a high definition, three-dimensional camera.
Currently, Intuitive's stock is trading at $495.29, down 5.29 percent on the Nasdaq.
