Business Editors/High-Tech Writers
SANTA MONICA, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--May 4, 2005--Yahoo! Inc. (Nasdaq:YHOO), a leading global Internet company, and Mark Burnett Productions today announced that they have signed a multi-season extension to their relationship for future versions of "The Apprentice." The extension will include versions of "The Apprentice" with Donald Trump, as well as the highly anticipated "The Apprentice" with Martha Stewart. The agreement also allows for future versions of "The Apprentice" following the 2005-2006 television season. The agreement expands on the successful alliance between Mark Burnett Productions and Yahoo! that produced the official sites for the last two cycles of "The Apprentice" and the premiere season of "The Contender."
The relationship between Yahoo! and Mark Burnett Productions has helped revolutionize the way that broadcast television and Internet programming are integrated to create cross-over media. The combination has encouraged TV viewers to engage more deeply with their favorite programs, and created a powerful opportunity for marketers to reach an attractive audience while extending their television advertising and product placement to the interactive world where a transactional relationship can be achieved.
"Yahoo! has an amazing ability to seamlessly integrate our televised programming into an interactive format that not only accurately reflects the content of each show but enhances it in new and exciting ways," said Mark Burnett. "Yahoo!'s unique grasp of the entertainment world combined with its massive online audience make it the perfect partner and an integral element in keeping shows like 'The Apprentice' at the top of the ratings."
The official Web sites for the fourth and fifth seasons of "The Apprentice" with Donald Trump and the first season of "The Apprentice" with Martha Stewart will include popular content, such as video produced exclusively for Yahoo!, extended versions of integral moments from each week's show, "Pick-Em" fantasy games, mobile content for phones, exclusive photos and 3-dimensional virtual tours of the Apprentice suites and Trump's boardroom, original editorial written by former Apprentice candidates, personal photo albums, special Yahoo! Messenger IMVironments featuring Donald Trump and Martha Stewart, blogs from Apprentice participants and more.
Advertising inventory for the past two "Apprentice" sites have been very popular with marketers. Advertising opportunities include: 10 to 30 second video ads at the opening of the exclusive video; display ads across the many pages of the TV shows' sites, integration into original online content; sponsorship of polls and interactive elements and custom sweepstakes.
"Yahoo!'s close relationship with Mark Burnett and his full production team has given us the unique ability to explore a greater range of content and advertising integration than ever before," said Jim Moloshok, senior vice president of entertainment and content acquisition. "Programming 'The Apprentice' across the Yahoo! network has allowed us to provide the user with a unique online experience and to give 'The Apprentice' the broadest reach possible in front of an advertiser's ideal demos."
