Microsoft Corporation Reports Climb In Q1 Bottom Line, Beats estimates

(RTTNews) - Microsoft Corporation (MSFT) reported earnings for its first quarter that increased from last year and beat the Street estimates.

The company's bottom line came in at $22.29 billion, or $2.99 per share. This compares with $17.56 billion, or $2.35 per share, in last year's first quarter.

Analysts on average had expected the company to earn $2.50 per share, according to figures compiled by Thomson Reuters. Analysts' estimates typically exclude special items.

The company's revenue for the quarter rose 12.8% to $56.52 billion from $50.12 billion last year.
