Pre-market Movers For Oct 31 (FB, XOM, CAH, OPTT, EXPE, NIHD, ARIA)

(RTTNews) - Gainers:

Facebook, Inc. (FB) is up over 1 percent to $49.78. The company swung to a profit in its third quarter and its adjusted earnings per share topped Wall Street view. Revenues surged 60 percent and came in above the consensus estimate.

Exxon Mobil Corp. (XOM) is up 0.77 percent to $89.49. The company's third quarter earnings declined from the previous year period. Total revenues and other income were lower than in the year-ago quarter, but topped the consensus estimate.

Cardinal Health, Inc. (CAH) is rising 2 percent to $57.00. The company's first quarter profit improved from the previous year period. Revenues for the quarter declined from the last year quarter, but topped the consensus estimate. The company raised its fiscal 2014 non-GAAP earnings per share from continuing operations outlook.

Ocean Power Technologies, Inc. (OPTT) is up 17 percent to $2.66. based on the news that it has received a $2.6 million contract from Mitsui Engineering & Shipbuilding Co., Ltd.

Expedia Inc. (EXPE) is jumping 16 percent to $58.29 based on the news that its third quarter results were above analysts' expectations.

Decliners:

NII Holdings Inc. (NIHD) is declining 26 percent to $3.55. The company's third quarter net loss widened from the previous year period. Operating revenues decreased 22 percent and also missed the consensus estimate. The company said it will not achieve its financial guidance for the year given the weak year-to-date operational and financial results, the continued depreciation of local currency exchange rates and the expected impact of Project Accelerate on its results for the fourth quarter.

Ariad Pharmaceuticals Inc. (ARIA) is plunging 44 percent to $2.22. The company announced that it is temporarily suspending the marketing and commercial distribution of Iclusig, a treatment for patients with resistant or intolerant chronic myeloid leukemia and Philadelphia-chromosome positive acute lymphoblastic leukemia, in the U.s, while it continues to negotiate updates to the U.S. prescribing information for Iclusig and implementation of a risk mitigation strategy.
