PSE&G Offers Residents Tools to Help Reduce Their Energy Use and Lower Their Monthly Heating Bills

NEWARK, N.J., March 2 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- With the cost of natural gas on the rise, home heating bills are more expensive than they have been in years past. PSE&G is concerned about the impact on its customers' household budgets and wants to help ease the burden.

In partnership with the Board of Public Utilities, PSE&G is offering its customers Natural Gas Cost Cutter Kits at a deeply discounted rate. For $5, consumers can receive energy-saving items and tips that can help them lower their energy consumption and save as much as $170 a year.

The kits contain items that help reduce heat loss. Included are outlet insulators, foam weather-stripping and polyethylene tape for sealing windows and doors -- as well as items that help control the amount of water that pours from faucets and shower heads while maintaining consistent water pressure. Energy saving tips and estimators that help consumers identify additional savings areas are also included.

This analysis can help residents determine which of their appliances use the most energy and provide specific recommendations for making their home more energy efficient. It also provides information on rebate programs and special incentives that can help make purchasing energy efficient lighting and appliances more affordable.
