Reports: Apple Seeks $180 Mln More From Samsung In Patent Dispute

(RTTNews) - Tech giant Apple Inc. (AAPL) has asked a U.S. judge to award it about $180 million more in its patent dispute with South Korean conglomerate Samsung Electronics Co. (SMSN.L, SSNNF.OB, SSNLF.OB), according to media reports on Thursday.

Samsung has already paid $548 million following a court ruling for infringement of Apple's patents. But Apple has reportedly said Samsung owes nearly $180 million to it in supplemental damages and interest, based on a product-by-product calculation for five devices.

In mid-December, Samsung asked the U.S. Supreme Court to overturn a $399 million patent award it was ordered to pay Apple for copied iPhone designs.

The $399 million forms the bulk of the $548 million judgment lodged against the Korean handset maker. Samsung paid the $548 million through a wire transfer, Apple has said in a court filing. Samsung reserves the right to seek reimbursement, though.

AAPL closed Thursday's regular trading at $108.03, down $0.58 or 0.53 percent on a volume of 13.6 million shares. In after-hours, the stock further declined $0.02 or 0.02 percent to $108.01.
