Sybase Celebrates Customers and Partners at the Sybase Classic in New York
NEW ROCHELLE, N.Y., May 17 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Sybase, Inc. , a leading provider of information management and mobile software, continues its support of the Ladies' Professional Golf Association (LPGA) as the fifth annual title sponsor of the Sybase(R) Classic and official wireless provider for the organization. In addition, Sybase has created the LPGA AvantGo(R) channel and the Sybase Classic AvantGo channel, delivering tournament information and results to PDA and smartphone users worldwide. The tournament takes place May 19-22 at the Wykagyl Country Club in New Rochelle, New York, which is one of the most historical and challenging golf courses on the LPGA tour.

The Sybase Classic will feature some of the greatest golfers in the world, including Sherri Steinhauer, the 2004 and two-time defending champion, Hee-Wan Hon and other top LPGA stars such as, Grace Park, Karrie Webb, and Cristie Kerr. Along with these world-class golfers will be a field of 144 players competing for a portion of the $1.25 million purse. ESPN will televise the first and second rounds live from 2:00 p.m. - 4:00 p.m. (EDT) Thursday, May 19th and 1:00 p.m.-3:00 p.m. (EDT) Friday, May 20th. ESPN2 will feature a live broadcast of the third and fourth rounds of the tournament from 2:00 p.m.-4:00 p.m. (EDT) Saturday, May 21st and 2:00 p.m.-4:00 p.m. (EDT) on Sunday, May 22nd.
This year at the Sybase Classic, Sybase continues support for its longtime benefiting charity and official hospital for the tournament, New York Eye and Ear Infirmary. Sybase has recently announced an additional official charity of the tournament, The Greater New York City Affiliate of the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation (Komen Greater NYC). Seventy-five percent of the
tournament proceeds will support the local New York programs and twenty-five percent is designated for nationwide cancer research.
