Temple-Inland Names Simons Executive Vice President and Johnston Chief Administrative Officer

    AUSTIN, Texas--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Feb. 7, 2005--Temple-Inland Inc. (NYSE:TIN) announced today that Doyle R. Simons has been named executive vice president, and J. Bradley Johnston, chief administrative officer of the Company.
    Mr. Simons, 41, joined Temple-Inland in 1992 and has served in various capacities, including corporate attorney, director of investor relations, vice president administration, and most recently as chief administrative officer. As executive vice president, Mr. Simons will have responsibility for all financial, administrative and investor relations functions within the Company. The chief financial officer, chief accounting officer, and chief administrative officer of the Company will report to Simons. Mr. Simons holds a bachelor of business administration degree from Baylor University and a law degree from The University of Texas and has completed the Stanford University Executive Program. He is active in civic affairs and is on the Advisory Council of the Texas Memorial Museum, Board of Directors of the Austin Chamber of Commerce, and is a member of the State Bar of Texas.
    Mr. Johnston, 49, joined Temple-Inland in 1993 and has served as general counsel and secretary and chief administrative officer of Guaranty Bank, and most recently as general counsel of Temple-Inland Inc., a position that he will retain in his new chief administrative officer role. Mr. Johnston will have responsibility for the legal, legislative, environmental, human resources, benefits, and administrative services functions of the Company. Prior to joining the Company, Mr. Johnston held the position of senior associate attorney with Weil Gotshal & Manges in Houston, Texas. He also served as a teaching fellow at Stanford Law School and as an associate with Holland & Hart in Denver, Colorado. Mr. Johnston holds a bachelor of science-business degree from the University of Colorado, a juris doctor degree from the University of Colorado School of Law, and a master of the science of law degree from Stanford Law School. Mr. Johnston has served as a director of the Ronald McDonald House and is former chairman of the Board of Regents of Concordia University in Austin, Texas. He also has served as a representative with the Financial Services Roundtable, American Bankers Association, and the Association of Corporate Counsel, and currently is a member of the American Forest and Paper Association General Counsel Forum.
