Tenet Awards Scholarships to Children of Employees of its Central Region
Tenet Healthcare Foundation, the charitable giving arm of Tenet
Healthcare Corporation (NYSE: THC), and Tenet’s
Central Region announced today that they have awarded $57,000 in
one-year college scholarships to 27 children of hospital and regional
employees in the Tenet Central Region, which includes Texas, Missouri
and Tennessee. The Children of Tenet Employees Scholarship Program is
designed to assist children of Tenet employees pursue higher education.

This year, the Tenet Healthcare Foundation awarded $264,000 through the
Children of Tenet Employees Scholarship program to 125 deserving
children of Tenet employees across the country.
These scholarships are awarded each year for full-time undergraduate
study at any accredited two- or four-year college, university or
vocational-technical school. Winners are chosen based on academic
record, demonstrated leadership, participation in school and community
activities, honors, work experience, goals and aspirations stated on the
application, unusual personal or family circumstances and an outside
appraisal.
The program is administered for Tenet by Scholarship Management
Services, a department of Scholarship America in compliance with state
and federal guidelines regulating scholarship awards by corporate
foundations.
Tenet Central Region, part of Tenet Healthcare Corporation (NYSE: THC),
comprises 16 acute care hospitals in Missouri, Tennessee and Texas with
approximately 4,293 beds and numerous related health care services. The
region includes two hospitals serving the greater St. Louis area, two in
the greater Memphis area and 12 in Texas. A 100-bed acute care hospital –
Sierra Providence Eastside Hospital – is
currently under construction in El Paso and is expected to open in early
2008.

Francis Hospital-Bartlett in Tennessee; and Centennial Medical Center,
Cypress Fairbanks Medical Center, Doctors Hospital at White Rock Lake,

Nacogdoches Medical Center, Park Plaza Hospital, Providence Memorial
Hospital, RHD Memorial Medical Center, Shelby Regional Medical Center,
Sierra Medical Center and Trinity Medical Center in Texas. The region
also includes two specialty hospitals, Plaza Specialty Hospital and
Sierra Providence Physical Rehabilitation Hospital. Tenet’s
