In this critical role, Edwards will lead the WTA in pursuing the Warfighter FOCUS contract, which will provide the U.S. Army's Program Executive Office, Simulation, Training, and Instrumentation (PEO STRI) with life-cycle contractor support services for training and training devices worldwide.

Upon contract award, Edwards will manage a large and diverse team of alliance employees located throughout the world supporting more than 400 sites. He will have total authority and responsibility to successfully manage this program to satisfy the rapidly transforming training requirements and needs of PEO STRI and the warfighter during the 10-year life of the Warfighter FOCUS program.

"Mike Edwards has consistently demonstrated innovation, vision, and an unparalleled commitment to serving customers. His domain and customer knowledge will be invaluable as we continue to refine our solution for PEO STRI," said Bryan J. Even, chairman of the WTA's board of directors, a Raytheon vice president, and president of Raytheon Technical Services Company LLC (RTSC).

"Our warfighters deserve the best support and service. Mike Edwards is the embodiment of what it means to bring the best to each and every project and task. His leadership skills complement a team of industry leaders dedicated to delivering the full spectrum of training services for the soldier -- today and tomorrow," said Austin Yerks, WTA vice chairman and president of Computer Sciences Corporation's Defense Integrated Solutions and Services division.

Edwards was formerly a senior vice president and business manager for simulation and training at SAIC (Science Applications International Corporation), where he was responsible for the strategic planning and program execution for SAIC's Orlando-based operation.

He has more than 22 years experience in successful acquisition management, including contract, program, division and operations management, and 10 years at PEO STRI. Areas of responsibility have included concept formulation, design and development, test validation, production and post-production support. Edwards has successfully managed research efforts, including full-scale design production efforts up to $1 billion in value and has managed many technical support efforts, including contracts, logistics and engineering projects implemented by interdisciplinary integrated product teams.

Edwards received a Bachelor of Science degree in biology from Hampden-Sydney College, Hampden-Sydney, Va., in 1981, and a master's degree in management from Webster University, St. Louis, Mo., in 2002.
