Zenger Group Adds Xerox Nuvera 120 EA System to Digital Fleet to Meet Demand for High-Quality B&W Print Jobs
The Zenger Group – Printing Services Network
has installed a Xerox Corporation (NYSE: XRX) Nuvera®
120 EA Digital Production System to keep up with growing client
demand for high-quality black-and-white print jobs such as personalized
letters and postcards, booklets and fliers.
The full-service commercial printer and direct-mail provider is one of
the first companies to install the 120 page-per-minute Xerox Nuvera 120
EA Digital Production System, powered by a Xerox FreeFlow®
DocuSP®
Print Server, which features new Emulsion Aggregation toner to
provide offset-quality images and the ability to print on coated stock.
"This system produces superb image quality on
a broad range of paper,
which enables us to bring in new business,”
said Steve Zenger, president and CEO, The Zenger Group –
Printing Services Network. "It is also very
reliable – Xerox black-and-white products are
rock solid, the tanks of the industry.”
According to Zenger, two key factors figured into the decision to
purchase the digital system:
Image quality – EA
Toner is Xerox's patented chemically grown toner. It has extremely
small particles, resulting in a smooth, consistent offset matte finish
with sharper details and images than traditional toner. Zenger notes
that the image quality of the system opens the door to adding richer
content to black-and-white pieces. For example, clients are now
including high-quality, detailed photos in otherwise text-heavy
documents to grab a reader’s attention.
Substrate flexibility – The Zenger
Group produces many high-volume hybrid jobs –
such as customized, direct-mail postcards –
that are pre-printed offset, then run through a digital system to add
personalized messaging. According to Zenger, the Xerox Nuvera EA 120
DPS was the only digital system that could quickly and effectively
handle the heavy postcard stock.
The Zenger Group exclusively uses Xerox digital technology, operating
nearly a dozen pieces of Xerox equipment including seven black-and-white
systems, a Xerox iGen3®
110 Digital Production Press, DocuColor®
6060 Digital Press and a DocuColor
240 Digital Printer/Copier. The range of innovative print jobs made
possible with Xerox technology, combined with The Zenger Group’s
traditional high-volume offset printing capabilities, creates an
effective hybrid environment where the company can quickly react to
changing client demands.
"It’s very
important for us to have a diverse product portfolio that delivers
results that help our customers and improves our profits,”
said Zenger. "We can adapt to any client need –
short-run or high-volume, color or black-and-white. It’s
why we’re so successful, and why our clients
keep coming back.”
The Zenger Group produces between two and three million black-and-white
pages each month and expects that number to rise with the addition of
the Xerox Nuvera EA 120 DPS.
Color of money
The Zenger Group has also seen its digital color business grow since
installing the Xerox iGen3 press in December of 2005. The company
produces more than 500,000 impressions per month on the press and is
printing everything from full-color posters to personalized marketing
pieces.
For example, the company prints fundraising materials for a charity that
supports impoverished countries. The charity, which wanted to increase
correspondence to potential or actual donors, had been building
hard-copy profiles of children available for sponsorship. They would
manually print out a letter that described the child and country and
literally paste a photo on to the page – a
process that took weeks. The Zenger Group built a fulfillment system
based around XMPie personalized printing software and the Xerox iGen3
press that lowered costs for the charity and reduced turnaround of the
mailers to two days.
The Zenger Group is a Xerox
Premier Partner, and according to Zenger, the more than 600-member
program has exposed the company to a rich potential client base. The
Zenger Group has also participated in thought leadership campaigns to
share best practices and industry knowledge with colleagues.
