Chevron Delo 400 Multigrade Diesel Engine Oil Meets New European ACEA
Business Editors/Automotive Writers/Energy Writers
SAN RAMON, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--April 5, 2005--ChevronTexaco Products Company (ChevronTexaco), a leading provider of heavy-duty engine oils, lubricants and coolants, today announced that its premium Chevron Delo(R) 400 Multigrade SAE 15W-40 heavy-duty engine oil meets the new European ACEA E7-04 specification.
The ACEA E7-04 specification is of significance in view of the fact that PACCAR has introduced the European-dominated DAF LF truck to the North American market. The DAF LF, a cabover available throughout Europe in class 4-7 truck and tractor configurations, is manufactured by PACCAR British-based subsidiary Leyland Trucks, and is sold under Kenworth and Peterbilt nameplates. In addition, DaimlerChrysler has brought in German-made Class 4 Sprinter delivery vans that are sold with Dodge or Freightliner badges.
Replacing the now obsolete ACEA E5-02, the new E7-04 specification incorporates a more severe 90-cycle shear stability test requirement and the Mack T10 engine test. It is recommended for oils used in diesel engines without particulate filters, for most exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) engines and most engines fitted with selective catalyst reduction (SCR) nitrogen oxides (NOx) reduction systems. In order to meet the ACEA E7-04 specification, oils must provide effective control with respect to piston cleanliness and bore polishing, deliver excellent wear and turbocharger deposit control, and offer superior soot handling and lubricant stability.
"By meeting the ACEA E7-04 European specification, Delo 400 has further enhanced its status as a premier global brand delivering a consistent level of superior performance to customers worldwide," said West Alexander, III, senior staff engineer, engine oil technology, ChevronTexaco Products Company. "We are proud to announce that Delo 400's advanced technology fulfills the strict requirements of this specification, which is designed for diesel engines operating under severe conditions."
Chevron Delo 400 Multigrade also meets ZF claims TE-ML 04C and TE-ML 07C. Compliance with TE-ML 04C, the service fill lubricant class for Marine transmissions, means that Delo 400 may be used for both diesel engines and transmissions in Marine applications, thereby reducing inventory and costs. Delo 400 similarly achieves a multipurpose application with TE-ML 07C, the service fill lubricant class for hydrostatic and mechanical drives and electric drive systems.
In 2004, ChevronTexaco was the first to announce its full line of engine oils were compliant with the API CI-4 PLUS engine oil specification, as well as that its full line of heavy-duty diesel engine oils meets the Detroit Diesel Power Guard Oil Specification 93K214. All of ChevronTexaco's premium heavy-duty multigrade engine oils continue to meet the highest performance requirements for most EGR, ACERT, European, Asian, and previous generation on-highway and off-highway diesel engines.
