Silicon Valley Leadership Group and AMD to Host U.S. Senator Barbara Boxer and Silicon Valley Leaders at Solutions Summit on Alternative Energy

On Monday, April 9, the Silicon Valley Leadership Group and Advanced Micro Devices, Inc. (NYSE:AMD) will host U.S. Senator Barbara Boxer (D-CA) and executives from major high tech companies to discuss the vital role Silicon Valley companies play in developing alternative energy and energy efficient solutions for the future of California and the nation. The Senator chairs the Environment and Public Works Committee. Participants will discuss innovation focused on reducing energy consumption in everything from employee commuting to datacenter management. Additionally, executives from AMD, Novellus, Lockheed Martin, Applied Materials and Sun Microsystems will participate in an interactive "Solutions Panel” on topics ranging from renewables to transportation to the data center. At the event, Pacific Gas & Electric (PG&E) will demo the first utility Vehicle-to-Grid (V2G) electric car. Using a standard home meter and a plug-in electric vehicle, PG&E will showcase how its customers could charge their electric vehicles at night and gain credit on their electricity bill by plugging in during the day, while simultaneously providing renewable energy to the power grid during peak hours. Participants will also have the opportunity to test ride a Plug-In Hybrid Electric Vehicle, which gets more than 100 miles per gallon. Media interested in attending the event are asked to please contact sarahjane.sacchetti@bitepr.com. A mult box will be available for broadcast media.
