Apple Unveils IPhone X
(RTTNews) - Apple launched a series of new products including its much awaited iPhone 8, iPhone 8S, and the iPhone X, its biggest iPhone redesign in a decade.
At its debut Apple Park public event on Tuesday, Apple unveiled its flagship iPhone X ( pronounced "iPhone 10") which is priced at a staggering starting price point of $999.
It features a new 5.8-inch Super Retina OLED display, powered by an all new A11 Bionic chip. The screen is bezel-less, running almost from top to bottom and side to side. It supports wireless charging and has an improved rear camera with dual optical image stabilization.
"For more than a decade, our intention has been to create an iPhone that is all display. The iPhone X is the realization of that vision," said Jony Ive, Apple's chief design officer. "With the introduction of iPhone ten years ago, we revolutionized the mobile phone with Multi-Touch. iPhone X marks a new era for iPhone — one in which the device disappears into the experience."
Philip Schiller, Apple's senior vice president of Worldwide Marketing, said, "iPhone X enables fluid new user experiences — from unlocking your iPhone with Face ID, to playing immersive AR games, to sharing Animoji in Messages — it is the beginning of the next ten years for iPhone."
Since there's no home button, iPhone X uses a new Face ID technology to unlock the phone as well as to use Apple pay. The Face ID uses TrueDepth camera system made up of a dot projector, infrared camera and flood illuminator, and is powered by A11 Bionic to accurately map and recognize a face.
The iPhone X has dual 12-megapixel sensors just like in iPhone 8 Plus and a newer telephoto lens that lets in more light.
iPhone X will be available in silver and space gray in 64GB and 256GB models starting at $999. Customers will be able to order iPhone X beginning October 27, with availability beginning November 3.
Apple also launched its next generation of iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus, which features a new glass and aluminum design made out of the durable glass. It sports Retina HD displays and powered by A11 Bionic chip.
Both devices will be available for pre-order beginning September 15 in more than 25 countries and territories, and in stores beginning September 22.
