Costco Wholesale May Comps. Rise 6% - Quick Facts

(RTTNews) - Membership warehouses operator Costco Wholesale Corp. (COST) said its comparable sales for May 2014 went up by 6% for the total company. Further, the firm reported $8.78 billion net sales for the four weeks ended June 1, 2014, up eight percent from $8.13 billion reported last year.

The company said inflation in gasoline prices positively impacted four-week comparable sales, but a negative impact for the thirty-nine week period; foreign currencies had an adverse impact for both periods. Excluding these effects, total company's comparable sales were 6% higher during the four-week period.
