Frozen Veggies Recalled For Listeria
(RTTNews) - Listeria contamination has prompted Costco Canada to recall frozen pea from its stores in several locations, including Alberta, Manitoba and Saskatchewan. Canadian Food Inspection Agency noted that the recall is triggered by action in another country.
A few days back, FDA has announced the recall of frozen vegetables by CRF Frozenfoods due to possible health risk. No cases of infection have been reported yet. The voluntary recall by CRZ comprised of 15 types of frozen vegetable packages from Costco and Meijer stores.
The Canadian authority said the frozen peas were found to be contaminated by Listeria monocytogenes and there may not be any physical defects for the packaged food. There may not be any difference in smell or look. Listeria affected food can cause vomiting, nausea, persistent fever, muscle aches, severe headaches and next stiffness. In pregnant women, Listeria infection might cause flu-like symptoms and might result in premature delivery, or stillbirth.
