Lowe’s Customers Answer Call to Action by Donating More Than $630,000 to Red Cross Haiti Relief

Lowe's Companies Inc. (NYSE: LOW) announced today customers donated more than $630,000 to the Red Cross to aid efforts in Haiti. All 1,700 stores in the United States and Canada opened as customer donation sites on Wednesday, Jan. 13, the same day Lowe’s made a $1 million donation to the American Red Cross International Response Fund for Haiti relief efforts.

Donations totaled $605,683 in the United States, and customers from Lowe’s Canada stores donated $24,518 to the Canadian Red Cross Haiti Earthquake Fund. In support of the Canadian Red Cross Haiti relief efforts the Canadian Government has pledged to match all contributions up to $50 million. Donations were collected through Friday, Feb. 12.

"Lowe’s extends a tremendous thank you to all our customers and employees for their generous donations to help our neighbors in Haiti,” said Robert A. Niblock, Lowe’s chairman and chief executive officer. "We all know someone who has been affected directly or indirectly by the earthquake, and Lowe’s continues to support Haiti as people look toward rebuilding their homes and their nation.”

Since partnering with the Red Cross in 1999, Lowe's and its customers have contributed nearly $21 million for disaster relief.

Lowe’s encourages customers to continue donating to the American Red Cross online at www.redcross.org or by calling 1-800-RED-CROSS (1-800-733-2767).
