Sprint Selects Finalists in $1 Million Sweepstakes

Sprint Nextel (NYSE:S) today announced the 12 finalists whose chances to win $1 million in the The SprintSpeed™ Million sweepstakes presented by Motorola lie with the 12 NEXTEL Cup drivers who are battling it out in the Chase for the NASCAR NEXTEL Cup. Sweepstakes finalists were randomly drawn and paired with the 12 Chase for the NASCAR NEXTEL Cup drivers they selected in the entry phase. The finalist paired with the driver who wins the championship will win the $1 million prize at Homestead-Miami Speedway Nov. 18. "We are thrilled to bring these 12 lucky finalists to the track for a VIP experience that brings them closer to the sport,” said Dean Kessel, director of NASCAR NEXTEL Cup Series marketing for Sprint Nextel. "This sweepstakes provides us with a great opportunity to build on the drama of the Chase and say thank you to our loyal customers and NEXTEL Cup fans.” Each finalist and a guest will receive a behind-the-scenes experience at a race in the 2007 Chase for the NASCAR NEXTEL Cup. During each VIP weekend, the finalists will stay in a luxury motorcoach, meet a NEXTEL Cup Series driver and receive special access to trackside events. Finalists also will receive a phone call from a NEXTEL Cup Series driver, $10,000 and a Sprint phone. Also, the finalists paired with the top-three drivers in contention to win the NASCAR NEXTEL Cup Series Championship will be invited to Homestead-Miami Speedway Nov. 18 to watch the season finale. The 12 finalists are: Craig Buehrer, St. Augustine, Fla. Buehrer, 53, is paired with Denny Hamlin and attended last weekend’s Sylvania 300 at New Hampshire International Speedway. Chris Snyder, Alexandria, La. Snyder, 41, is paired with Kyle Busch and will attend the Dodge Dealers 400 at Dover International Speedway. Pamela Hendon, Plymouth, Ind. Hendon, 43, is paired with Martin Truex Jr. and will attend the LifeLock 400 at Kansas Speedway. Patricia Nobles, Griffin, Ga. Nobles, 67, is paired with Carl Edwards and will attend the LifeLock 400 at Kansas Speedway. Theresa Randall, Las Vegas. Randall, 49, is paired with Jimmie Johnson and will attend the UAW-Ford 500 at Talladega Superspeedway. Eric Winter, Watertown, Wis. Winter, 25, is paired with Kurt Busch and will attend the UAW-Ford 500 at Talladega Superspeedway. Gilvonna Murphy, West Bloomfield, Mich. Murphy, 33, is paired with Kevin Harvick and will attend the Bank of America 500 at Lowe’s Motor Speedway. Lisa Nesbitt, Muldraugh, Ky. Nesbitt, 43, is paired with Jeff Gordon and will attend the Subway 500 at Martinsville Speedway. Thomas Chapman, Decatur, Ill. Chapman, 43, is paired with Jeff Burton and will attend the Subway 500 at Martinsville Speedway. John Poole, Broken Arrow, Okla. Poole, 34, is paired with Clint Bowyer and will attend the Pep Boys Auto 500 at Atlanta Motor Speedway. Shelia Riley, Sebring, Fla. Riley, 47, is paired with Tony Stewart and will attend the Dickies 500 at Texas Motor Speedway. Stuart Bouck, St. Peters, Mo. Bouck, 19, is paired with Matt Kenseth and will attend the Checker Auto Parts 500 at Phoenix International Raceway. The SprintSpeed Million entry phase began July 15 and concluded Sept. 3. Race fans were able to enter the sweepstakes by selecting the driver they thought would win the 2007 NASCAR NEXTEL Cup Series Championship. Entries were accepted at Sprint Nextel retail stores, on www.sprint.com/speed, by texting a special code from any Sprint or Nextel phone or trackside at the NEXTEL Experience. More information about the finalists, including videos of their VIP race weekends, will be available on www.sprint.com/speed throughout the Chase for the NASCAR NEXTEL Cup.
