Vice Chairman Mark Grier to Lead Prudential Financial's International Division

Vice Chairman Mark Grier, who is currently in charge of Financial Management at Prudential Financial, Inc. (NYSE:PRU), was named to lead the company’s International Division, Chairman and CEO Arthur F. Ryan today announced. Ryan also announced that Helen Galt, currently Senior Vice President and Company Actuary, will add the responsibilities of Chief Risk Officer to her duties. Chief Risk Officer is a new position. The announcement followed the resignation of Vice Chairman Rodger Lawson, who was the head of the International Division. "Mark joined Prudential in May 1995 and played an integral role in Prudential’s demutualization process. He has been a member of the Office of the Chairman (OOC) since 2002, and helped lead us through a number of very significant transactions that have strengthened our businesses and was instrumental in driving our efforts to evolve our capital management program,” Ryan said. Chief Financial Officer Rich Carbone, who previously reported to Grier, will now report directly to Ryan, as will Galt in her new role. "Helen, who has served as Company Actuary since 1993, has made numerous contributions in a variety of senior management positions,” Ryan said.
