Acartus Earns EMC Centera Certification; Acartus' ApertureONE Solution Completes and Passes Independently Administered Testing to Receive EMC Centera Certification

    Business Editors/Technology Editors

DENVER--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Feb. 24, 2005--Acartus, developer of next-generation enterprise report management (ERM) solutions, today announced that its ApertureONE product has become certified with EMC Centera (NYSE:EMC). This certification recognizes that ApertureONE's integration with Centera has satisfied independently administered testing for functionality and performance quality, as mandated by strict EMC testing criteria.
"We are extremely pleased with the EMC Centera certification." said Bradley Florin, CEO of Acartus. "EMC Centera certification reflects our commitment to developing strategic solutions for managing fixed content, and underscores ApertureONE's depth of integration and potential value for EMC Centera customers."
Centera content addressed storage (CAS) is a software-driven storage architecture specifically designed to address the unique information storage requirements of enterprise reports, statements, invoices and other high-volume static document types.
ApertureONE solves the challenges of managing fixed content historically sealed within inaccessible proprietary media such as optical disc and mainframe archives. ApertureONE captures all raw input types, normalizes them to digital standard(a) PDF, and stores them to either a centralized ERM repository or to an enterprise content management (ECM) platform, such as those offered by EMC Documentum. ApertureONE's content capture also includes migrating back-file archives from proprietary formats, enabling retirement of legacy archival applications.
In order to receive certification, ApertureONE passed all required test criteria and met EMC's stringent technical standards. The testing, independently administered by Veritest, a leading provider of globalization and testing services, covered a range of performance criteria including collision avoidance, single-instance storage support, capacity reporting and write speed. The test results showed that ApertureONE demonstrated the scalability to fully leverage the EMC Centera system.
When implemented jointly, fixed content types are processed by ApertureONE (often legal and financial records subject to regulatory scrutiny) and placed within Centera's environment, ensuring that content is lifecycle managed according to digital archival standards.

(a) ISO Release of the PDF/A specification for electronic archival in
PDF format is expected in 2H 2005.
