Humana Chairman and CEO Mike McCallister to Showcase National Care Center’s Telehealth Pilot Fri., March 18 in St. Petersburg

(Photo courtesy Intel-GE Health Innovations) Humana's Chairman and CEO Mike McCallister will be at Humana Cares' national care center in St. Petersburg on Fri., March 18 to showcase and demonstrate its new, innovative and interactive telehealth pilot, which uses the Intel Health Guide, as shown in this photo. The Intel Health Guide enables Humana Cares nurses to remotely monitor congestive heart failure patients across the country by using two-way video, like the video call taking place in the photo.

Humana Chairman and CEO Mike McCallister is coming to the company’s Humana Cares complex and chronic care management division in St. Petersburg on Fri., March 18, at 11 a.m. to showcase the national care center’s new, innovative telehealth pilot that uses the Intel® Health Guide to provide interactive care for congestive heart failure patients. |

The Intel Health Guide is a comprehensive, next-generation remote health management solution that combines an in-home patient device, the Intel Health Guide PHS6000, with the Intel Health Care Management Suite, an online connection that enables Humana Cares nurses to monitor the weight, heart rate, blood pressure and other key vital signs of Humana members and remotely manage their care by Web video and telephone. |

| Over the course of 18 months, the company’s telehealth pilot will monitor 2,000 congestive heart failure patients across the country. Personalized monitoring allows Humana Cares nurses to coordinate member care with physicians who can adjust medications and treatment in response to measurements obtained by the Health Guide. Video monitoring allows the Humana Cares nurse to observe mood, facial expressions, breathing patterns, skin color and extremity swelling, all of which may indicate important changes in a member’s condition. Importantly, the interactive system also is designed to engage patients in taking a more active role in managing their health. | |||

Humana Cares opened its doors in St. Petersburg in February 2009 with about 200 associates when Humana, Florida’s largest Medicare health benefits company, expanded its commitment to implementing chronic condition management programs that incorporate a more holistic approach to managing care for the chronically ill. Humana Cares nurses and social workers evaluate each member’s needs to determine the kinds of interventions that would make a difference - that would help the member stay healthier, out of the hospital, and at home - and that would improve overall quality of life. Humana Cares members are cared for through telephonic and on-site management supporting the member, along with their spouse, family and caregiver. |

| Today, Humana Cares employs more than 800 associates who provide integrated complex and chronic care management for about 123,000 Humana members across the country. | |||
