Michelle Robinson Appointed Senior Vice President of Verizon's Southern Region

ATLANTA, May 3 /PRNewswire/ -- Verizon Communications has appointed Michelle Robinson as senior vice president for its Southern region, with responsibility for all government affairs activities in Alabama, Georgia, Kentucky, Louisiana, Mississippi and Tennessee.

"In today's dynamic and highly competitive communications marketplace, we need executives who are steeped in the business and can work closely with state and local officials to make sure consumers are well served," said Colleen McCloskey, Verizon's senior vice president for state public affairs, policy and communications. "Michelle is a tested leader who will do an excellent job for Verizon and our customers in this important region."

For the past two years, Robinson has been executive director-regulatory affairs in California, and prior to that she was director-regulatory affairs in the company's Southeast region, based in Tampa, Fla.

"I look forward to working within the region as Verizon gains a stronger presence in the South," said Robinson. "Our continuing transition to a broadband communications company, coupled with the rapid development of Verizon Business, makes this an important time for consumers, a period that I am excited to be associated with."

Robinson earned a Bachelor of Arts in political science from the University of California at Los Angeles, and a master's degree in public policy from the University of Southern California School of Public Administration.
